Something New on the Horizon...

I'm trying something different this Summer and I thought some of you might be interested to hear about it. This Summer we are going to have some FUN! That's it - FUN! I've renamed the programs available to reflect the quiet/relaxed nature of SUMMER! What is normally known as Chi Rho will be deemed "Slow Chi Rho" and what is known to all as CYF is re manufactured as "CYF Lite"! Also, since Kids 2 Kids will be taking a much needed break we've now got what you call "Summertime Kids". All of these programs will be fun, exciting, and "casual" just like Summer! We'll be having fun - will you? Check the June Newsletter to see the up-coming June dates/times for activities!

I promise, this is not meant to be something that you design your family calendar around (unless you want to), just something to say - we're here and you are always WELCOME! For more information, please contact Randy at the church office 919-481-4715 or e-mail him at randy-ccc@bellsouth.net

Remember... VBS is Coming!!!!

We are still looking for volunteers for this Summer's VBS experience! There will be a lot going on and we are expecting a large turnout! Things sure are easier when there are a lot of people involved! Make sure you pick up a VBS Volunteer registration form from the church bulletin this week, fill it out, and send it in! If you are not going to be in Cary this weekend, but still want to show support, please contact the church office and we can take your information/intention to help! Church contact: Randy Holste 919-481-4715 or randy-ccc@bellsouth.net. Thanks for your support!

Kids 2 Kids... This Weekend!!!

Just a reminder. Kids 2 Kids End of Year Bash is scheduled for this Sunday @ Bond Park immediately following 11 AM worship! We will not be picking up trash, but we will having a party!!! CYF - This Sunday...

Guys and gals, just wanted to give you a heads up. I would like to finish our discussion regarding "What if Starbucks Marketed Like a Church" Please watch the video and come prepared to talk about it this Sunday at McDonald's on the corner of High House and Cary Parkway (10:10 AM) - Note the adjusted time. Think about what hits you from the video and where Covenant is with regards to its "welcoming of visitors" and how we could do things better. What would make you WANT to come on church? What would we need to have available to you, what kind of atmosphere would make you say "I love coming to church and bringing my friends along with me?" Why do you ask your friends "hey, you want to go to Starbucks with me" or "I'm heading to the mall, do you want to come?" Is there anything we can do to give you the same sense of belonging or comfort?"

Just click on the name above "What if Starbucks Marketed Like a Church" or paste this URL into the address bar to see the video. Its only 7 minutes long and I promise you will like it.

Last Kids 2 Kids of the YEAR....

Do you believe our Kids to Kids 'year' is almost over?!? Our last get-together is
on Sunday, May 17, at Bond Park in Cary. We'll have a lunch celebration at 12:30 p.m.
at the Buehler Shelter (located beside the boathouse). Jay will grill hamburgers
and hot dogs and I'll bring the rest. We're going to request a $2 donation per
person, if you're able. After lunch, we'll recognize the kids' accomplishments,
evaluate this year's program, and talk about service projects for the following
year.

At 2:00 p.m., we'll meet Mr. Eucker at the boathouse to receive instructions to pick
up litter through Bond Park. It's a great way to get some exercise and feel good
about helping the environment and our community.

We thought it would be a neat idea to have "Kids to Kids" t-shirts for next year.
We'll bring all the details next Sunday and see what everyone thinks.

Please let us know by Thursday, May 14, if your family plans to attend.
You know us, we want to make sure we have enough of everything!

Take care,
Jay and Jody

PS. There is a congregational meeting following both church services next weekend
to approve the new officers. Online voting is available if you prefer to vote
ahead of time and to help make it easier to get to Bond Park around 12:30 p.m..

Kids 2 Kids...And Rising Kindergartners

We wanted to take a moment to introduce you to Kids to Kids at Covenant Christian
Church. Kids to Kids is a monthly program for K-5th graders. Its purpose is to
encourage children to become involved in service projects and sharing their gifts
and talents in order to encourage a lifelong commitment to volunteerism. (As with
learning, we mainly hope they have fun and realize God's love for them and the world
around them.)

We are having our last get-together for the 'year' next Sunday and your families are
welcome to join us. What follows is all the information. If you have any questions,
please contact Jay or me at 460-2820 or jodylb23@yahoo.com. We hope to see you next
Sunday and if we don't, we hope to get to know you and your child next year!
